This tempio to Zeus is the largest Doric and Zeus tempio in the world (even though it is mostly destroyed now)!  It also has the largest sacrificial altar – not sure if that is in the world or in the valley – which is picture four.  In Greek mythology there are beings called Giants, born from Gaia and Uranus, who eventually fought against the Titans, a ‘previous’ generation from Gaia and Uranus, over Mount Olympus.  Thirty-eight statues of these Giants were thought to have been standing around this tempio – my second picture is one of a replica Giant statue – these are what they are thought to have looked like.  The third picture is of the remains of a real Giant statue.  I may or may not have touched his toe.  (taken 26.2.2015)
